1/4 c. frozen unsweetened blueberries
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 c. coconut milk or almond milk
2 T. hemp protein powder
dash cinnamon
light sprinkle spirulina powder* (optional)
optional topping: rice bran with agave nectar
Combine everything in the Vitamix or blender and mix on high until smooth. You can omit the spirulina if you wish, but the algae (sounds gross, I know) has amazing health benefits and blends right into the shake- no bad taste. I topped my shake with the rice bran, but you can just add it right in for extra fiber and protein.
Hi! I just saw a link to your site over at Vita-Village, so I thought I'd take a look. Great smoothie recipe....waiting for my hemp to come in the mail. (I just got a new Vita-Mix!!)
ReplyDeleteI just made almost this exact smoothie last week! I didn't use spirulina because I take chlorella tablets separately, but everything else was almost the same. It was very tasty. Blueberries are one of the best smoothie ingredients. I'll think I'll go and make another!
ReplyDeleteNow that's what I'm talking about. Hemp and blueberries I bet are amazing combination. I've been starting to use hemp protein powder a lot these days. It's such a good source of protein. That and omega 3s
