"Soy Free" Disclaimer

Note on Soy Free Posts:

I have segregated all of my recipes which do not overtly contain soy or soy products (no Braggs liquid aminos, San-J wheat free tamari, or tofu shirataki noodles). Some recipes use Smart Balance or Earth Balance non-hydrogenated, trans-fat free vegan butter. These butter substitutes do contain soybean and flax oils. Substitute your own butter or margarine as needed. If you eat canned tuna or any processed foods, read carefully for soy lethicin and soy hidden in seasonings and vegetable broth.

  1. You really make it easy for people to find recipes for specific diets. I'd never really thought about Braggs being a concern for people that are soy free, but I guess it is! Didn't know about the tuna at all! That's crazy.

  2. Soy free! Whoo hoo! i've been allergic to soy my whole life and ever since I went vegetarian I haven't been getting that creative aside from fruits and veggies. All my veg friends eat tofu! Good to see that there are sites like this out there!

  4. I used to love Bragg's liquid aminos. I'd use it in all my marinades and often in salads. But cutting out soy was definitely the way to go. I think I still have some Braggs somewhere in the cupboard :)

  5. Earth Balance now has a soy-free vegan butter.
It's great! You can bake with it, freeze it, fry with it; tastes great on bread or toast. I highly recommend it. Can be found in the refrigerated case among other butter substitutes at Walmart. Do try it.
